Log Haven is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Utah.
Located up Millcreek Canyon, it is in the perfect location for a summer dinner on the patio.
We loved tasting the new spring menu.
Sitting by food critics, we realized we are not very picky because to us everything tasted amazing!
The night was perfectly topped off with the cutest mini icecream cones.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Twin Tested: Color Your Hair

We are definitely babies when it comes to hair color.
We feel like we have majorly branched out by getting melts in caramel colors that look VERY similar to our natural color.
So we decided to find some fun non-permanent hair color options to play around with.
Please note, these ideas are awesomest when you are between the ages of 12-21.
We had our awesome friends the Folsom's come help us with the segment.
They are the best and were such good sports!

Hair Chalk
Hair chalk is a super easy and very non permanent way to add some fun colors to your hair.
Just note, if you are blonde, do not wet your hair before applying or the color will be a lot more permanent.
The color does not show up on dark hair, so this is best for blondes to medium brown range.
We love the look of colored tips that you can very easily get with the chalk.
This kit came from Urban Outfitters, but you can buy hair chalk at Target and craft stores as well.
Urban Outfitters $14.00
Batiste Dry Shampoo: A Hint of Colour Light & Blonde
Just when we thought dry shampoo couldn't get any better...they come out with this.
It is amazing!
Not only does it work just as well as the original, it adds a nice blonde shine to your hair, plus it smells amazing!
Urban Outfitters $8.00

Streekers: Wild Weekend
These are so much fun! They have a lipgloss-like wand that you use to apply the liquid color.
I have dyed blonde tips and this easily washed out with one shampoo.
The color is dark and vibrant, so it works great if you want something that stands out.

Twin Tested: Drugstore Tan

Orange hands... that is the result of our trying out nearly 10 different drugstore self tanners this past week.
We are huge advocates of fake tans from the bottle.
Here are our thoughts on some of the most well-known drugstore brands.
Watch the segment HERE.
Banana Boat Summer Color Self-Tanning Lotion
$7.99
BEST Application.
We loved this because it smells good and has a dark brown color, so you can see exactly where you are applying it.
We found it stays on really well and gives your skin a natural color.
L'oreal Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion
$7.99
This is basically the ugly step-sister to the Banana Boat lotion.
Same idea, but doesn't work as well or smell as good.
L'oreal Sublime Glow
$8.99
Warning! This stuff stinks!
After applying it all over my body, I honestly wanted to shower because it has a definite stench.
Jergens Natural Glow
$8.99
Our #1 Pick Overall
They have revamped this popular lotion and it is now smell-less!
Neutrogena Build.A.Tan
$11.99
This is basically a very light lotion.
If you don't want any color, this is your pick!

Happy (Fake) Tanning!

Race for the Cure

We had a great time at Race for the Cure this weekend.
Our KUTV team was there walking for our lovely Mary Nickles.
She is such an inspiration to everyone at the station so it was fun to celebrate alongside her.

We met countless amazing women that are fighting breast cancer.
Brooke put together a story with just a few of the people she met.

Mother's Day Makeover

We decided to do something a little different for our latest makeover... we ambushed our own mom!
We were so excited to surprise her.
She was shocked when we showed up with a camera man while she was working in the garden... it was priceless!

She was absolutely horrified that we caught her in this outfit, it's her "gardening get-up".
We took her to Life Spa at Lifetime Fitness in South Jordan.
She started her transformation with an amazing facial.
Then, it was into the salon for some hair dye and makeup...
The girls at Life Spa did such a great job keeping things natural, but also enhancing our Mom's natural beauty.
She loved the gorgeous makeup they did.
Her takeaway tip: eyebrows are the most important feature of your face!
Va va voom! She looks so beautiful!
Her entire outfit is from H&M at City Creek.
We loved pampering our mom and giving her a fun new look.
Happy Mother's Day!

*A big huge thank you to Life Spa for pampering our cute mom and making her feel gorgeous.

Twin Travels

Turns out, we think alike.
Brooke and I took trips to California one week apart.
I went because Sam surprised me with a trip for Valentine's Day.
We basically did a Disneyland food crawl while we there.. churros... bread bowls.. dole whip.. yum!
This picture pretty much sums up how we felt about the Happiest Place on Earth.
We stayed at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott and absolutely loved it!
We had the most gorgeous view of the harbor right outside our window.
I had to take Sam to my favorite beach in all of Southern California... the Montage.
Meanwhile... a week later Brooke took a quick trip to LA with her bestie Lauren.

They loved finding treasures at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Thanks to their big shot designer friend Brady who knows all the shopping hot spots.
Then, they found the cutest place on earth - the Venice Canals.
(The movie Valentine's Day was shot there.)
Moral of the story -- go to the beach, it makes everything better!
If you are in the area here is a list of yummy places we love:
Toast : Hearty brunch with delicious sandwiches (last time I was there they were shooting NBA wives)
Urth Caffe: All organic, local, and delicious food in an adorable cottage setting
The Pink Taco : Best Mexican food in LA with a chic atmosphere

Twin Tested: Salsa Competition

Today we kicked off some early Cinco de Mayo festivities at Channel 2. We have some great chefs in the newsroom and wanted to put them to the test! Britt and I are huge salsa fans so deciding on a favorite was hard. Watch the segment HERE

Brooke's Pick: Arch's Chopped Salsa
This is a station favorite requested many times throughout the year. Arch uses a food processor to make sure all ingredients are finely chopped.

6 to 7 Roma Tomatoes
2 Bunches Green Onions
1 Can Whole Tomatoes Strained
5 to 7 Cloves Garlic
1 Bunch Cilantro (use leaves only no stems)
2 to 4 Jalapenos (depending on taste)
1 Tablespoon Salt
¼ Teaspoon Cumin
Britt's Pick: Lindsey's Dirty Bean Salsa
This salsa was made by morning producer Lindsey. It was delicious!! Especially if you love avocado.

·         1 can black beans
·         1 can black eyed peas
·         2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
·         1 can corn
·         4 green onions (chopped)
·         3 avacadoes (diced small)
·         Chopped fresh cilantro
·         1 pkg good season’s Italian dressing

Open and drain caned ingredients.
Combine all ingredients in a bowl
Make Italian Dressing according to directions, pour over top, and mix well
Season with Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder to taste
Runner-up: Melissa's Tostitos Mango Salsa
Our Executive Producer Melissa totally fooled us with this one - you cannot tell that it is store bought!
Of course if you are short on time it's a great option with a sweet mango taste.
